Lixxus Virtual PBX online system allows you to change calling features directly from your desktop, add/manage users and extensions, modify your voice settings, monitor your calls, check and report on your billing.
Types of Users
Lixxus Virtual PBX online system gives you the opportunity to deploy VoIP services to various users within your business:
- Office Based Workers via existing broadband connection
- Home / Remote Users through a share of the broadband connection
- Overseas workers via softphone, online connection or at WiFi hotspots
Levels of access can be self-managed depending upon the actual requirements of each user.
Branch/Head Office
At the head or Branch office utilisation of ADSL, SDSL or a LL service is dependent upon the expected number of concurrent calls. The relationship between the overall number of users and the number of concurrent calls would be determined mainly by the nature of the business.
For example a call centre or telesales organisation would have a much higher ratio of concurrent calls to total users than an organisation where staff only make and receive calls infrequently.
The re-grading of a circuit will be possible but we advise that it is best to overestimate the potential number of concurrent calls as your business demands grow.
Home/Remote User
If you’re a Home Worker and your business relies on or you want to implement a complete home working solution, then Lixxus can offer both Voice and Data services to suit your needs.
A Home/Remote user is likely to want to share the broadband circuit for Data usage and as such would require an ADSL circuit to support both Voice and Data.
Lixxus may agree to open up a channel for Data usage on the VOIP Broadband circuit to assess the levels of voice and data quality for data-hungry users to avoid low levels of connectivity.
Requirements
The Lixxus Virtual PBX product requires 3 key elements in order to allow full functionality of the VoIP service.
- The Lixxus vPBX and associated hardware
- Internet Connectivity
Network Infrastructure for connecting hardware to the internet connection.
IP Telephones
You can select from a predefined list of handsets, each with differing levels of functionality depending upon the actual requirements of each user. Where DATA usage has been requested, there is also the option of a softphone which resides on the users PC or Laptop for home/remote users.
Where the company has a small number of incoming phone lines and a basic receptionist function then Lixxus would select all telephones from the Linksys range. Where the company has a larger number of incoming lines and a complex receptionist function then Lixxus would select from the Polycom range. The softphone would be supplied by “SJLabs”.
Costs
A simple solution can cost from as little as £200 per seat year 1 which includes all hardware, software and phones. Compared with a standard wall mounted office PBX the difference is obvious.
With Lixxus, call costs can be up to 50% cheaper than BT standard business rates. With calls made over a Lixxus vPBX extension, your employees can call each other free, even when they make calls from 4000 miles away.
Extracted Info :
Branch/Head Office - This would be assessed through discussion with the customer. Once agreed the circuit can be dimensioned but it should be borne in mind that the ration may be incorrect and so higher bandwidth may become necessary.
within contract but may attract charges
The key areas to be careful are when the number is close to an ADSL/SDSL/LL bandwidth boundary because it is more costly to change between circuit types.
For very data hungry users this could still affect voice quality and this would have to be assessed before
The minimum that can be sold to a client is the Hosted IP vPBX account along with the associated hardware i.e. IP telephones.
It is possible that a customer may already have an internet connection and/or sufficient network infrastructure but it is recommended that a dedicated internet connection be provided for the IP Telephony solution and that a separate network infrastructure is utilised. This allows for quality of service to be guaranteed making the overall solution reliable and providing a complete PSTN/ISDN equivalent solution.
This is not recommended as it does not allow for the prioritisation of voice traffic and therefore voice quality may be affected by high data demand from the PC/Laptop.
Lixxus will generally select from two brands of telephone based upon the specific users’ requirements.
